Western Glassware

I had my work cut out for me when I agreed to redecorate my brother’s apartment. He decided that he wanted a cowboy theme, complete with western glassware. I agreed to decorate for him and told him that I could only work on this project in my spare time.

He apparently decided on this cowboy theme for his apartment when he bought western glassware. He thought the glassware was really neat and wanted to decorate his apartment accordingly. The glasses were really unique. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like them.

My brother has a lot of guy friends that come over to watch sports on television and to play poker. He convinced me to play bartender for his crowd on Friday nights while I was there to redecorate. I thought it would be fun to serve drinks to his friends in the new western glassware.

The first Friday night that I came to work on his place, I painted. I chose a nice terra cotta color with accents of sage green. There were only five guys, including my brother, there that night. I used the western glassware and served them the dry version of a Manhattan.

The Manhattan looked good in the western glassware. I had heard that this drink was a favorite of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. This is a classic drink. I found some Johnnie Walker Blue Label in my brother’s liquor cabinet.

The Johnnie Walker Blue Label blended whiskey was stirred with dry vermouth, and then strained. I strained the drinks into the western glassware and served them with olives. The guys loved them and even helped me paint.

The next Friday night that I worked on my brother’s apartment, I made curtains. I stopped at the fabric store on the way over and found the perfect western motif. I cleaned all of the western glassware when I got to my brothers apartment and surveyed the liquor cabinet.

I found all of the ingredients for a Sidecar. I was excited about that because I hadn’t had a Sidecar in a long time. I had to run to the grocery store to get lemons, but that was all I needed. I stirred the juice of a quarter of a lemon with one ounce of Triple Sec and another ounce of Cognac and strained it into the western glassware.

I returned to my brother’s apartment a month later because I had been busy at work. The next Friday night that I worked on his redecorating, I fitted his couch with a slipcover and brought over a storage trunk for a coffee table that I’d found at a garage sale. I even found some more western glassware bowls at the garage sale.

There were only three guys at my brother’s apartment that night. They were there to watch Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood. The cowboy decorating theme had them in the mood for a western movie. I served Scotch & Soda to the guys in western glassware.
