Wine Cellar Storage Is Key To Success

Your wine cellar storage is key to success of any wine collection. If you have decided to become a wine connoisseur it’s time you spent some time looking for the best wine storage. There are plenty of choices out there but no matter which one you choose conditions will need to be kept constant.

Wine cellars need to be maintained at between 50 and 60 degrees. The ventilation needs to be adequate and the humidity needs to be around 70%. Your wine cellar should be away from the main part of the house and it should be away from vibrations and sunlight. The correct construction is critical to the health of your wine.

You will also need wine racks to store your wine. There are many different styles of wine racks. You will need to decide what type of racks you want. Choose from wood or metal. It’s personal taste. Wood is more traditional while metal is more trendy. You need to decide what size the rack will be and of course that will depend on what size the cellar storage is.

Your choices may be reflected based on whether others will see the cellar or not. If you are planning to show it off then you might choose classier or trendier racks. On the other hand if no one will see the cellar you can keep your costs down with functionality only.

Your wine needs to be stored correctly in order for it to age correctly. Your bottles need to be on their sides so that the cork is always wet. That way it will not expand and contract.

So what will your wine cellar hold? How many bottles are you planning to store in your cellar? Do you have preferences already? If so make sure you build accordingly. It’s always nice to have a cellar that holds at least 500 bottles if at all possible.

If you really don’t need that much space and would prefer to be a connoisseur on a smaller scale perhaps a commercial wine cooler would be the answer. They are smaller, more compact, and can be mounted under the counter in your kitchen. They are very affordable and they hold anywhere from 24 to 50 bottles of wine.

If you purchase a commercial model you should never buy a model with a clear glass door. Although this might be visually appealing it’s not good for the wine. The light will turn your wine bad quickly. Instead purchase either a solid door model or a model that has dark tinted glass. It’s critical to the health of your wine.

Wine cellar storage is big business but then again so is wine. Each year there are hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on fine wine for the home and there is just as much money spent on correct storage.

If you are one of the wine connoisseur’s perhaps the time has come to consider all your wine cellar storage options.
